There are fourteen mountains on Earth higher than 8,000 meters. They sit across the Himalaya and Karakoram and represent some of the biggest, most complex objectives in high-altitude mountaineering. The goal is simple to describe and considerably harder to execute: climb all fourteen.

PROGRESS THROUGH THE FOURTEEN

What started with one 8,000-meter mountain has grown into a much bigger objective.

I summited my first 8,000er, Manaslu, in September 2025. At that point, completing all fourteen of the world’s 8,000-meter peaks wasn’t some long-established plan. But Manaslu changed the direction of what I wanted to do in the mountains.

The attraction isn’t simply collecting fourteen summits. Each mountain presents a completely different problem, different routes, conditions, weather, logistics, risks and decisions. Some expeditions work. Others don’t. Dhaulagiri has already shown me that more than once. That uncertainty is a huge part of why I want to take this project on.

Five of the fourteen are now complete: Manaslu, Annapurna I, Makalu, Everest and Lhotse. Four of those came during the Nepal Spring Season 2026. Nine remain.. The goal is to work through them over the coming seasons while continuing to document the entire journey, not just the summit days, but the setbacks, decisions, people and expeditions behind them.
